How to Remove Old Message Headers

During the day on October 1, we will be migrating our Premium US and Premium US SSL customers to our new server farm. Message ID's on our new server farm will be renumbered during the migration. If you have stored message headers for subscribed newsgroups in your newsreader client, you will need to clear your old headers and download new headers with the new message ID's. Otherwise, you will receive a 'Message not found' error message. We have summarized below how to clear headers for some common newsreader clients.

News Rover

From News Rover, right click on a server name in the left window pane.
Choose the option to 'Get new headers for all subscribed newsgroups on server'.
The News Rover status line at the bottom will indicate progress.

News Bin

From News Bin, choose the 'Groups' tab at top of screen.
Right click on a group name
Click on 'Post Storage' and then 'Delete Stored Posts'.
Click 'OK' on the confirmation dialog box.
Repeat for each group.

Forte Agent

From Agent, click on 'All Desks' in the upper left
Select a folder and right click it.
Click 'Purge Folder'.
Click 'OK' on the confirmation dialog box.
Repeat for each ThunderNews folder.

XNews

From Xnews, click on the 'Server' menu and choose your ThunderNews server
Double click on a subscribed group
Click on the 'Group' menu and choose 'Discard Headers - All'
Repeat for each subscribed group.

NewsLeecher

From NewsLeecher, click on the 'Articles' tab.
Newsgroup names are at left. If not, doublelick the blue arrows near the top
Select the group(s) to purge and right click.
Click 'Selected: Purge Group' and confirm 'Yes' on the dialog box.
